Collectors

The Land List - An Ongoing Project in Cataloging Polaroid Cameras - Everything you ever wanted to know about this fascinating branch of photography.

TLR Cameras Website - Barry Toogood's celebration of the 620 / 120 Twin Lens Reflex camera and its history. An informative and nostalgic survey of the genre.

Olympus Classic Viewfinder Cameras - Claus Marin is a collector of the classic viewfinder cameras produced by Olympus Kogaku between 1949 and 1979. Most photographers of my generation will have owned or used one of these at some time, and there is much of interest to the collector here. The site also contains some information about the Pen F series.

Global Rollei Club - You don't have to be a member to browse the many fascinating pages of this extensive website which chronicles the history of Rollei and its products. It modestly claims to "provide in-depth information about current & discontinued Rollei products." Whether you want to wallow in the classic Rolleis of yesteryear, or yearn for one of their latest products, you'll find much to interest you here.

The MPP Users' Club - "The Club is the World Authority on Cameras and Photographic Equipment Manufactured by Micro Precision Products Ltd. of London, England and is the meeting place for all users, owners and collectors."

Ken Riley Photographics - Information on Antique and Classic Cameras - I don't usually include Links pages in this section, but Ken Riley has gathered together a formidable list of links to web pages detailing many antique and classic cameras. As he says himself: " This Web Page is dedicated to providing the camera collector with valuable and useful information about antique and classic cameras such as darkroom supplies, films for the classics, camera repair, photographic resources, chat/posting forums, and history." Hours of nostalgia!

Praktica-Users.com - I imagine there can't be many of our members who didn't cut their teeth on one of these cameras as part of their photographic development! Well, here's a site where you can wallow in nostalgia. They're all here, with pictures of bodies, lenses, and accessories. "This site is simply a homage to a great brand that made quality pictures possible for so many, for so little money." And if this stirs enough nostalgia, working cameras can still be found on E-bay at very reasonable prices!

The Zeiss Ikon Contax Home - "Zeisscamera.com is the premier site for restoration, repairs, parts, maintenance, custom modifications, advice and information about your Zeiss Ikon Contax cameras, lenses and accessories. . . . In depth information about the operation and inner workings of the Contax cameras is feely available here." The website of Henry Scherer, one of the foremost repairers of Zeiss Contax equipment in the world. A fascinating insight into the history, design and assembly of these wonderful cameras.

Classic Camera Collection - Alan MacPherson's classic 35mm camera pages are a fascinating nostalgia trip.

Chris Eve's Kodak Collector's Site - Got a Kodak Brownie on a shelf somewhere? This site will tell you all you need to know about it, and then some. A fascinating look back at the cameras that introduced many of us to this hobby of ours.

Classic Cameras - A fascinating new Japanese site with pictures and information about many classic and rare cameras. A real nostalgia trip! (Incidentally, there's no need to download the Japanese language pack which your browser will probably offer to do - unless you want to view the site in Japanese, of course!)

Rare Cameras of New York - You'll need a healthy bank balance to shop here, but it's a wonderfully nostalgic site to browse, with some great pictures of historic equipment.
