Digital Imaging
fredmiranda.com - just about everything here for the digital photographer, forums, galleries, software, reviews and enough articles to while away many a happy hour.
Digital Camera Review - Get the latest news of digital innovations on this site: "Where you'll find all the latest in digital photography and imaging news, reviews of the latest digital cameras and accessories, the most active discussion forums, a large selection of sample images, a digital camera buyers guide, side-by-side comparisons and the most comprehensive database of digital camera features and specifications."
Digital Photography Now (DPNow) - was set up in August 2001 by Ian Burley, a veteran IT writer, who lives and works in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. As well as a discussion forum and galleries, the site features news of cameras, printers and software for the digital photographer.
Jeff Keller's Digital Camera Resource Page - The Digital Camera Resource Page was the first of the "big four" digital camera sites, founded in November 1997. The DCRP is designed to be an unofficial resource for current and future owners of digital cameras.
LetsGoDigital - a site which describes itself as "your online magazine for digital imaging" - news and reviews of all things digital, along with a picture gallery and forum.
Steve's Digicams - A site which describes itself as: "The consumer's best source of digital camera information and news." Contains a wide variety of reviews, news, galleries, discussion forums and links.
Imaging Resource - A site which describes itself as "Your source for the most comprehensive and informative digital camera reviews." Run by Dave Etchells, it's well worth a look if you're thinking of buying your first / next digital camera.
Bytephoto Digital Resource Centre - Digital camera reviews, digital photography tips and online photo sharing for digital photo enthusiasts.
The Gigapxl Project - Pleased with your new 6mp digital camera? How about one with 6,000mp? Read about this fascinating project being used to capture the American landscape.
Care and Handling Guide for the Preservation of CDs and DVDs - If you archive your digital files to CD or DVD, then this site, produced by the American National Institute of Standards and Technology, contains the latest research findings for ensuring their long-term safety.
Photo-i - A site with much to interest the digital enthusiast, including news, reviews and galleries.
Computer Darkroom - Ian Lyons, from Northern Ireland, has recently updated this extensive site of digital information, containing useful 'Photoshop' tutorials and links.
Accurate Image Manipulation - Much of interest for the digital worker, particularly in setting up your system accurately.
Luminous Landscape - Wonderful images and much information about digital printing, including monochrome printing.
Digital Darkroom - A Singapore site with everything you ever wanted to know about digital printing (and more!)
The Ink-Jet Mall - An American site for the digital worker, with many links.
Digital Printing Techniques - An excellent British site, of interest to digital printers.
Reference Sites
Camerapedia - An interesting website which is very much a work in progress to which you can contribute. It describes itself as 'a free-content encyclopedia of camera information. Its intention is to be a repository for information and links to information about all still camera brands and models. If you possess information about some camera equipment, please share that knowledge with everyone and contribute.' Have a look and share your expertise!
The Correspondence of William Henry Fox Talbot Project - This project, hosted at Glasgow University and directed by Professor Larry J Schaaf from his office in Baltimore, Maryland USA, has prepared a comprehensive edition of the nearly 10,000 letters to and from Fox Talbot (1800-1877) the Wiltshire polymath best known for his invention of photography. A fascinating site for anyone interested in the history of photography or who has visited Lacock Abbey.
Art in Context - "Art in Context was established in 1995 to serve the international fine art community and general public by providing an online reference library for the publication and dissemination of information about artists and where to find their work. The library catalogues and presents information added by curators, dealers, artists, writers and others from around the world."
A wonderful resource for browsing the images of many well-known, and lesser-known, photographers.
Large Format Photography Info - The website of a non-commercial community of large format photographers, which includes a repository of primers, how-to articles, users' reviews of equipment, and a discussion forum. If you're thinking of getting into this fascinating area of photography, there is no better starting point than this site.
BetterPhoto.com - "Articles on every aspect of photography... quick tips to help you get going... instruction on both traditional, film-based photography and digital imaging... you will find it all here at BetterPhoto.com" What more need I say?
The Photographer's Toolkit - "Welcome to the Photographer's ToolKit. This is where you'll find the tools you'll need to grow as a photographer and keep up with new products and technologies."
Photographic Filters, Light Conversion and More! - The personal website of Thom Bell, of the Kodak Information Centre, USA. Much technical information, particularly, but not exclusively, related to Kodak products, much of which is difficult to find elsewhere.
Gum Bichromate Photography - This site represents a personal exploration and practise in gum bichromate photographic printing over the last ten years by Hamish Stewart.
Artcyclopedia - The fine art search engine - Part of the huge Artcyclopedia site, this is a chronological listing of well-known and less well-known photographers, with links relating to most of them.
History of Photography - Dr Robert Leggatt FRPS's history of the first 80 years of photography, including pen portraits of all the important practitioners as well as details of the significant processes. A scholarly yet interesting site.
The Photo Reference Desk - Part of the 'Reference Desk' site dealing with photography. 149 photo-related websites to explore, at the last count!
