Clayton Jones - 'Clayton Jones is a fine art photographer by avocation and a professional database
programmer by trade.'
An interesting website with some good galleries and lots of information for digital printers, especially those printing black and white images.
Tao of Photography - The Website of Andy Llachinski - A fascinating site with lots of photographs and some interesting writing about photography. (Please be patient with the front page, particularly if you don't have a broadband connection. It's worth the wait!)
Jay Wesler - Jay Wesler is an American fine art photographer who specializes in western landscape and nostalgic cityscape imagery. Some magnificent monochrome work to enjoy in the American landscape tradition. (Note that the gallery has a slideshow function.)
Gary Auerbach - Gary Auerbach is one of a small number of photographers in the world who produces Platinum photographs. He specialises in portraiture, but his site also includes a landscape / cityscape gallery and some interesting Polaroid image transfers.
Rodger Hamilton, War Photographer - A little-known name outside his native Columbus, Ohio, Rodger Hamilton's war photography for the Columbus Dispatch is outstanding, and this website contains an extensive gallery as well as a biography of this fine photographer.
O. Winston Link - The Link Museum in Roanoke, Virginia was set up to celebrate the life and work of O. Winston Link, one of the most innovative railway photographers. As well as interesting biographical information, the website has a gallery of Link's work.
Mono Photography - by Donald Cameron, based in Perth, Scotland. "My photography is inspired by the landscape of Scotland. The seascapes, scenery, natural life, and constantly changing Scottish weather present almost unlimited photographic opportunities. I aim to capture the best of these, and hope you enjoy the view.... "
Tobyal's Picture-A-Day Project - Don't know what to photograph? Stuck for ideas? This site might be just the shot in the arm you need! I don't know who Tobyal is - it may be one of you, for all I know - but he's posted a picture every day during 2007. You can see alll 365, arranged by months here. Not every one is a masterpiece, but there are some gems and his site is a real inspiration to us all. And if a picture a day's just too much, how about trying to take one a week, or even a month? As long as it's not one a year!
Andreas Burz Photography - Based in Stuttgart, Southern Germany, Andreas Burz uses cutting edge equipment & techniques to produce stunning commercial photography. The website design's not bad, either!
Shannon Neth Photography - Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Shannon Neth specialises in child photography, a genre which many of you will recognise as an exercise in saintliness! The galleries contain lots of ideas for photographing your own children or grandchildren, and - yes - you can turn the music off! The control's in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
Studio Strangelove - Mostly abstract analogue photography in colour and black & white from English photograper, Nik Strangelove.
Guarionex - Urban abstract photography in black & white and colour from New York City.
F45: Rolfe Horn Photography - An excellent website showcasing the work of this fine American photographer. Of particular interest is the section detailing his printing technique.
Graham Whitwham - Graham Whitwham, ARPS, is a landscape photographer living in South Lakeland, Cumbria. Of particular interest on his website are pictures taken with a Fuji 617 panoramic camera.
Joy White - living in the West Country, Joy White specialises in landscape, portraiture, architectural photography and documentary work together with her Monochrome Fine Print collection.
Cambridge in Colour - Sean McHugh's website features work conducted while he was pursuing his PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Cambridge. It includes a gallery of his photographs of the university city and also a series of digital imaging tutorials.
Fan Ho - 100 Photographs - Award-wining photographer Fan Ho has won 268 awards from international exhibitions and competitions worldwide since 1956. Ho has been elected Fellow of the Photographic Society of America, Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, England; Honorary Member of the Photographic Societies of Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore and was honored with One-Man-Shows in the above countries. As its title suggests, the site features a gallery of the pictures in his latest publication.
Steve Hoffmann's Nature and Landscape Photography - "This web site is basically divided into two sections. The first section consists of my photo galleries. The second section is comprised of digital imaging articles and equipment reviews." High quality landscape and nature photography.
Paul White Photography - Photographs of Welsh ruined mansions, the Welsh Landscape, Hafod and Welsh Buildings, Landscape Abstractions and Urban Abstractions... Also architectural shots of Brighton and area, and portraits.
Les McLean Photography - The new website of well-known photographer and writer Les McLean.
Virtually Grey Gallery - 'Fine Black and White Photography of the Land, Sea and Sky by Stephen J Gledhill.'
justmono - 'Photographs by Clive Rowley, Alan Brown, Brian Tompkins and Tanya Lowe dedicated to the appreciation of black and white photography.'
Cole Thompson Photography - 'Classic images in black and white.'
Martin Parr - has an international reputation for innovative imagery and a unique approach to social documentary photography. This website contains portfolios of his most famous work as well as examples of his current projects.
Filmwasters. - This site is dedicated to 'showcasing and promoting the creative side of film-based photography. It is a 100% independent operation designed, managed and financed by 5 friends and it is our likes, dislikes, enthusiasms, prejudices, limitations and energy that will inform its make-up. . . . We are a diverse bunch of five photography enthusiasts from opposing ends of the globe. One in Tokyo, one in Los Angeles and three from England. Although our collective styles could not be more different, we all have an overriding and all-consuming passion for film-based photographic art.' Their introduction says it all - some interesting and enjoyable photography.
Juan Buhler - is a street photographer about whom I know next to nothing, except that he has some very fine photographs on his website, in various galleries. The sort of pictures I would take . . . if I had 'the eye'!
Christopher Preece - Chris Preece is a former member of PPC Circle 2. On this site, part of the Architecture Week 2006 Event, Chris documents Hereford's buildings, its urban landscape and the changes which are taking place. These images provide a personal view of the City's past, present and future. There are also links to several other sites of photographs which Chris maintains.

Eric Meola Photography - Galleries of stunning photographs from this modern master.
Jeffery L Smith - Lower 9th Ward, New Orleans - Jeffery Smith is an amateur photographer who lives in New Orleans. He has recently begun to record the scenes of devastation which still remain in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His pictures of the Lower 9th Ward are a truly unique and remarkable document and brought home to me the scale and horror of the catastrophic events in New Orleans in a way that television and newspaper reports hadn't done.
Dave Butcher Photography - Black and White Photography - The Website of Dr Dave Butcher, ARPS. Some stunning images from the man who managed Ilford Photo photographic printing department 1993 - 2000.
The Photography of Nils Jorgensen - Humour is a rare and valuable commodity in any aspect of life, not the least in photography. Here is a photographer with a real eye for the quirks and idiosyncrasies of everyday life.
Photographs by Erik Petersen - 'Politiken' is Denmark's leading daily quality newspaper, and the photographs displayed here show life in Copenhagen during the war and early post-war years. They were taken by Erik Petersen, who worked for the paper from 1939 to 1994, and came to light when 700 rolls of his film were found following his death in 1999. A selection of these images (117, to be exact) were published as a book on 4th May this year to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Denmark. The form at the bottom of each page asks people who view the pictures to try to identify the people and places in them. A remarkable archive of the work of an extremely talented photographer.
Mario Abbatepaolo - Fine art photography, featuring wonderfully sensitive landscape work.
Juraj Lipscher - A beautifully-designed site displaying the photographs of this Prague-born photographer, who now lives and works in Switzerland. Several galleries of evocative and sensitive photography.
Ken Rockwell - is both an award-winning photographer, and teacher of photography. - His website contains an interesting collection of his thoughts and writings about photography, from equipment and technique to aesthetics. A recent addition to the site is his comparison of the virtues and drawbacks of digital and film cameras - read it here.
Ctein's On-Line Gallery - Ctein is considered to be one of the very best color printers alive today and one of a very small number of artists still making dye transfer prints. His website contains several galleries of these wonderful colour prints and, even if - like me - you can't afford to buy one, the online examples are large enough to enjoy.

William Gedney, Photography and Writings - From the mid 1950s through to the early 1980s, William Gedney (1932-1989) photographed throughout the United States, in India, and in Europe. Find out more about this remarkable photographer on this Duke's University site.

The Ernst Haas Studio - A stunning new site showcasing the work of this master photographer.

How We Are Now - In the summer of last year, Tate Britain hosted the exhibition 'How We Are Now'. In their own words: 'This is the first major exhibition of photography ever to be held at Tate Britain. It takes a unique look at the journey of British photography, from the pioneers of the early medium to today’s photographers who use new technology to make and display their imagery.' Interestingly, 'For the first time, Tate Britain is inviting members of the public to contribute to the content of an exhibition. How We Are Now invites you to add your photograph to the exhibition through the community and photo-sharing website Flickr.' The link at the head of this paragraph takes you to the Flickr site referred to, where, at the last count, over 6,000 pictures had been posted to tie in with the theme.

The National Trust Photo Library - 'The National Trust Photo Library houses a unique collection of contemporary photography which vividly illustrates the rich diversity and historical range of properties in the National Trust's care, throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.'
uklandscape.net - A gallery site of photographs and articles concerning the British landscape. Also has a 'What's On' section and other features.
Artspan - describes itself as: 'a major art portal to the world of contemporary art, and the leading provider of individual artist, artisan & photographers websites.' Part of a wider website, this link takes you directly to the Photography section from where there are links to individual photographer sites.
The National Press Photographer's Association 'Best of Photojournalism 2006' Winners - Winning photography in many categories selected by this American Press association.
London Independent Photography - 18th Annual Exhibition - LIP is 'a forum for both amateur and professional photographers. Our activities are designed to bring together photographers with different interests and different levels of expertise who are interested in developing their personal approach to photography and improving their skills.'
photoLONDON. - "London's libraries, museums and archives possess a treasure house of modern and historic photographs of London. The photoLondon website exists to highlight and promote these collections. The site also provides background information on photography in London." A wonderfully rich resource. The American Museum of Photography. - "The American Museum of Photography is an award-winning Virtual Museum dedicated to educating, informing, and sharing great photographs with millions of Internet visitors world-wide. Exhibitions are drawn from the Museum's Collection, started by Wm. B. Becker more than 30 years ago. The Collection includes five thousand individual images, from the earliest daguerreotype portraits to the work of Ansel Adams. Each photograph has been chosen for its visual impact as well as for the importance of its content."
The Family of Man 2 - In 1955 Edward Steichen launched a photographic project called 'The Family of Man'. The exhibit travelled all over the world, consisting of over 500 images of humanity by over 270 photographers, some famous, some unknown. Each year, from 2000 - 2005, the internet-based Leica User Group has celebrated the new millennium by following in Steichen's footsteps and producing a new set of images of humanity, culminating in an annual contest. The fifth and final year's selection has now been made and is posted for viewing on this site.

World Pinhole Day. - April 30th, 2006 was the latest 'World Pinhole Day'. This link takes you to the searchable gallery of over 2000 pictures produced by anyone, anywhere in the world, who made a pinhole photograph on the last Sunday in April. There are also links to the photographs produced on the same day for the past 5 years.
V & A - Exploring Photography - The site shows a selection of photographs drawn primarily from the V&A collection. It contains information on photographers, personal commentaries and explanations of photographic processes and techniques.
The Courtauld Institute of Art and Architecture Website. - Over 40,000 images to browse from this stunning collection.
The Klemantaski Collection - 'The Klemantaski collection consists of over 400,000 motor racing photographs and is one of the largest and most varied libraries of its kind anywhere in the world.' A wonderful collection of photographs, many of them taken with what would seem very basic equipment today.
fotogallery - Ffotogallery is the national development agency for photography in Wales, and the premier arts organisation dedicated to the promotion and presentation of photographic art in the country. The site contains news of current exhibitions and activities and there is an archive of previous exhibitions.
A Picture's Worth - David
Chin, the site's author, describes it thus: 'Officially launched on the 1st of August 2003, ‘A Picture's Worth’ is a personal project that aims to highlight the inspiration that can arise
from a photograph and to capture it in the form of words which in turn can reveal the true beauty of a photograph. Ultimately, the project seeks to inspire and enhance captivating story writing and
beautiful photography. In line with the idea that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, visitors are invited to share the memories, emotions or creative stories triggered by a photograph
of personal significance. It is hoped that a new photo essay will be posted on the site daily..'
A site which contains many moving and interesting pictures and the words which add to their significance.
"Without Grass" - Images from the Urban Landscape - "This site contains work by photographers who use the urban landscape as their point of departure in the production of formal, often abstract, works. The intention is to collect together a variety of interpretations of this theme."
Fotokids - is a non-profit organization which aims to break the cycle of poverty through training in visual arts and technology. They provide scholarships to many of their over 80 students, all of whom live in difficult economic circumstances in rural and urban communities of Guatemala and Honduras.
in-public - Street photography on the web. This site was created in 2000 to bring together in one place the work of contemporary photographers with a common interest. All the photographers featured here have been invited to show their work because of their ability to recognise and capture the unusual in the everyday. These pictures show us a world that we have long ceased to observe because of our own familiarity with it. Enjoy the pure observation, wit and humour of this work and keep your eyes open next time you're in public.
Magnum Photos - The website of the legendary Magnum Photo Agency.
Here is New York - A Democracy of Photographs. - "In response to the World Trade Center tragedy, and to the unprecedented flood of images that have resulted from it, a unique exhibition and sale of photographs is running in Soho on the ground floor of 116 Prince Street, NYC 10012, until Christmas Eve 2001."
"HERE IS NEW YORK is not a conventional gallery show. It is something new, a show tailored to the nature of the event, and to the response it has elicited. The exhibition is subtitled "A Democracy of Photographs" because anyone and everyone who has taken pictures relating to the tragedy is invited to bring or ftp their images to the gallery, where they will be digitally scanned, archivally printed and displayed on the walls alongside the work of top photojournalists and other professional photographers. All of the prints which HERE IS NEW YORK displays will be sold to the public for $25, regardless of their provenance. The net proceeds will go to the Children's Aid Society WTC Relief Fund, for the benefit of the thousands of children who are among the greatest victims of this catastrophe."
Be aware that many of these pictures depict harrowing scenes.
The Smithsonian Institution - A wonderful resource of photographs and articles about photography.
Images of England - Images of England is building a digital library of England's 370,000 listed buildings. Text and images will be available on this site in 2002 - and many thousands are there now for you to view.
The Afterimage Gallery - located in Dallas, Texas and one of the oldest art galleries in the world devoted to photography. Over 700 pages and galleries by a number of well-known photographers.
Panoramic Images - Photo Agency - Panoramic Images opened in 1987 as the first and only photo agency specializing in panoramic stock photography. Panoramics are up to 20 times larger than 35mm slides. Only panoramics capture the full field of vision of the human eye.

The East Midlands Monochrome Group - has a new website, featuring the work of their members. Both traditional and digital monochrome prints are displayed.
The Black and White Spider Awards - The Black and White Spider Awards is an international awards competition recognizing excellence in black and white photography. This year's competition was judged in November, and galleries of the winning pictures are now on this interesting site.
TrekEarth - "The underlying theme of TrekEarth is learning more about the world through photography. TrekEarth fosters this by allowing photographers to display their work grouped by regions in a supportive and orderly environment. This is accomplished by an easy-to-use system which encourages people to critique each other's work."
The Sutcliffe Gallery - A commercial site specialising in the photography of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, Hon FRPS, containing some interesting information and a small number of his wonderful prints of Whitby and other subjects.
P.A.W. - The "Picture A Week" Project - Photographers throughout the world are taking part in this project by posting a new photograph each week of the year. Some U.K. participants, including one from the P.P.C. - why not join in?
