About Us!

The Postal Photographic Club is organised into small groups or “Circles” each comprising 12 - 15 members. Each Circle is in the charge of a Circle Secretary who has considerable freedom of action in organising their Circle within the parameters of the Club’s rules.

Within the print Circles members produce prints no larger than 7" x 5" and mount these into one of the club's unique folders together with relevant capture and printing details to make it ready for circulation, this is then forwarded to the Circle Secretary who includes them in an outgoing Folio.

Other Circles circulate their digital files that have now replaced slides on disk or flash drives but otherwise operate in the same way as the print circles. Trials of an Internet based circle are currently being conducted.

These Folios are circulated monthly and will be retained by each member in turn for about a week during which they will add their comments to each print folder. The folio will also contain a set of prints from a previous round to allow all members to read the comments that were made on them by other Circle members before they remove them. The Folio will also contain a notebook in which members record their news, views, and general comments and discussions.

Members of each Circle also choose their favourite photographs, to allow the three that are considered the most popular to go forward to represent the Circle in our annual Founder’s Cup Competition. Most Circles also have their own internal competitions to stimulate activity and debate.

Whilst the Club has been promoting artistic and technical excellence within the field of photographic print and image making for 75 years we do not consider ourselves to be an elitist group, so come and join us and share in our enjoyment of an absorbing hobby.
